leather and mustard

This outfit came to me on a whim as I was gathering other ensembles for a recent photo shoot and ironically out of all of them, this one is my favorite. Mustard is a color I have been playing with for at least a year. Every time I purchased a mustard item, I would get home and realize I looked like a pale face and then have to return it. Such a pain.... Then I found this cable knit high-low piece and fell in love (mostly because I didn't look like death while wearing it). I am also a giant fan of this $17 skirt purchased from Forever 21... and who could forget the leopard heels. You can never go wrong with leopard heels.
This was also my very first photo shoot for lovelee. I found myself awkwardly asking "What do I do with my hands?". Note to self for next time: Bring props. I am by no means a model, nor do I pose like one (obviously), but there is something very fulfilling to me about styling outfit posts.

Maybe it's the fact that I can actually dress myself.......
Sweater: Marshalls

trend of the week : studs & crosses

I have definitely done a 180 as of late in the 'Jessica Fashion Norm'. Those of you who know me, know I love floral, chiffon, flowy, girly and pastel colored pieces. But lately I have been testing the waters of edgier pieces like leather, skulls and studs. 6 months ago Jessica would have laughed at the present Jessica if she said "Hey I just purchased a shirt with skulls and a moto-vest"...... I am laughing as we speak.

The first time I wore my skull shirt, I received a ton of observational looks and someone actually asked me if it was Alexander McQueen....HA pfft, I wish. I think I purchased that little gem at TJ Maxx for $20. Hardly couture level. One of my friends said to me "I could never pull that off", but really in all honesty, anyone can. I truly believe a woman can pull off ANYTHING if she wears it with full confidence. That's when I feel the sexiest - when I am wearing something out of the norm, but rocking it like I've worn it forever.

Did I just say sexy? The leather is obviously taking over......

Clockwise : ASOS, River Island, Forever 21 (last three).

Stay tuned for a post on my leather moto-vest. I am pretty crazy about it!

color crush : lapis

The name of this beautiful color was inspired by the gemstone Lapis Lazuli. Some may call it cobalt, royal, bright blue or cerulean. There are so many pieces this season that you will find in this beautiful hue, even beauty products - especially nail polish. I love this color because it adds so much life to any outfit. Here are some of my favorite street styles along with some styling tips below:
LOVE this necklace and how it flows so well with the red lipstick. This girl and I should be best friends only because of the red lipstick.

If this is your first time styling with a brighter hue like lapis and you are skeptical about pairing it with complimentary colors, stay with neutral colors like white, black or grey.

If you are daring, here are some colors to play with :

Here are some of my favorite lapis-colored pieces.

All items are under $60 - click here if you want to know where they're from

Room Service

It has only been a little over a month since I was last in Room Service, but boy do they have some seriously adorable items!! The apparel and accessories available in this store right now are so amazing, you just have to purchase....well that was my reasoning when I spotted this gorgeous royal dress.
Shimmer Panels Dress - $58 (left)  Cerulean Knit Royal Dress - $54 (right)

Tags & Stones - $39.50-$48

In love with these cozy little numbers, especially the one in the middle. These range from $32-54.

For the everyday hipster baby: a handkerchief bib made of organic cotton. Zebi Baby - $18

Another little babe piece - Lil' Burritos: $26

Chevron Printed Dress - $68
How great would this dress look with a red belt or red flats/heels?!

Stop down this weekend on your way to the West Side Market. Or grab some coffee and spend two hours in Room Service (I could). Even the smell of this place is amazing. Stay tuned for another post next week. They have so many gems, I couldn't fit them all in one post!!

Thanks for reading xo

Personalized Stationery is a great gift for anyone. I think it is essential for any recent college graduate or married woman who just took a new last name to own personalized stationery :) It's also a cute addition to your desk area. This would be an ideal gift for that hard-to-buy for person, or your Grandma. Grandma's LOVE stuff like this!

This adorable watercolor lotus stationery can be found at minted. I absolutely adore minted.'s items. They have everything from Thank You cards to Journals. You must check it out!

Enjoy! xo
